What: Native Gardens for Home Landscapes
When: Thursday, April 22, 5:30 pm
Where: Northland Aboretum
Presented By: Brainerd Chapter Wild Ones and Eleanor Burkett
Native gardens don't have to be huge land restorations.
This session will focus on incorporating native gardens of small to
moderate size into your home landscape. In addition to "how to" tips, there
will be a discussion of surprises and "lessons learned" based on
Eleanor's experience with her own urban home landscape and her work
professionally in designing, implementing and maintaining native
gardens.
Eleanor Burkett is an Extension Educator in Water Resources for
the University of Minnesota Extension and a founding member of the
Brainerd Chapter of Wild Ones. She has taught and been involved in
research about shoreland filter gardens, native plants and
rain gardens for 13 years. She is an avid vegetable gardener and has
incorporated several native gardens into her small home landscape in
the city of Brainerd.
Cost is $3, free for Wild Ones members.
