Woodland Wild Flowers - Nancy Pumper
May Chapter Meeting
6:00 PM, Greenvale Lone Oak Nature Area (GLONA), Greenvale Park Elementary School, 700 Lincoly Parkway, Northfield, Minnesota 55057
Free and open to the public
Nancy has a background in naturalism and led her church teenagers into the Boundary Waters for many years. Nancy will show us some of the more common woodland flowers and some of the not-so-common ones. If you have a question about a plant growing in GLONA, just ask Nancy. She will also point out the different mini environments in the woods and explain why certain plants grow in each.

Back to Nature Garage Sale
Fundraiser for Northfield Prairie Partners Chapter of Wild Ones
414 Manitou Street, Northfield, MN 55057
Friday, May 11th from 12 PM to 7 PM
Saturday, may 12th from 8 AM to 5 PM
Our Northfield Prairie Partners will have their annual fundraiser on the driveway and garage of Arlene Kjar's home. All are encouraged to participate in some way. Collect items that we can sell (no large electrical appliances) and price ahead of time. We will change the price if we feel it needs to be different. Deliver on Wednesday through Friday morning. We especially want birdhouses and feeders, flowers, clothing, shoes, crafts, dishes, toys, and the usual items that sell at a garage sale. We'll have a separate place for native and non-native plants. Strawberries, rhubarb, raspberries, tomatoes, peppers, etc. sell very well. We have plans to purchase some technology equipment for our chapter, as well as most of our expenses are funded by the money we make at our annual garage sale. Besides that, it's fun!

Butterflies and their Gardens - Lisa Reuvers
June Chapter Meeting
6:30 PM, Northfield Public Library, 210 Washington Street, Northfield, Minnesota 55057
Free and open to the public
Lisa is a Rice County Master Gardener and a librarian at the Rice County Library in Fairbault. Lisa will bring a PowerPoint presentation of her butterfly photos for us to view. Lisa says, "Letting nature do what it is supposed to do is my angle and teaching that people don't have to interfere. That sounds mighty big and judgmental, it just means let the cycle of nature work." It should be a very interesting program.
