Join a community of native plant enthusiasts—novice to experts—making a difference locally and nationally by establishing and preserving communities of native plants in our home landscapes, our schools and businesses, and in our communities. Help us spread awareness and share what we know about the issues related to preserving, restoring and establishing native plant communities, to preserve biodiversity through our own landscaping. Each membership category has three levels of giving: Wild, Wilder and Wildest. All levels get access to the members only webpages as well as the Top 18 Wild Ones Journal Articles.
As a member of Wild Ones you can choose to become part of a local chapter in your area or you can choose to be a PAL (partner-at-large). A PAL is not assigned to a chapter but joins a group of members who work solo in their own communities or simply enjoy the benefits of Wild Ones membership. Either way, as a chapter member or as a PAL, you receive all the benefits of membership. You do not have to join a local chapter separately.
Designed for individuals and households, you as a member will receive a wide range of benefits dedicated to participating in the native landscape movement. Benefits include receiving the Wild Ones Journal and full access to the members only online webpages.
The Business membership level is intended to recognize the businesses and communities that have philosophies that align with the Wild Ones mission. You send a strong message of support for environmental protection and you demonstrate that support through your membership in Wild Ones. Membership benefits include the usual Household Membership benefits and many others such as recognition on the Wild Ones website and a listing in the Wild Ones Yellow Pages.
The Affiliate Not-for-Profit Organization or Educator membership level is intended to recognize not-for-profit and municipal organizations, and individuals such as academics and professionals whose missions are related to the Wild Ones mission. By aligning your not-for-profit or municipal organization, or educators with Wild Ones, you are able to publicize that you share the goals of a large national environmental not-for-profit. With this alignment comes the credibility of being associated with Wild Ones, and the satisfaction that you are part of the group that has been instrumental in developing the natural landscape movement and continues to do so.
Reduced-price memberships are available to full-time students and those on a limited income. If you are on a limited income, this membership gives you all the benefits of Wild Ones membership—and covers everyone in your household.
The Lifetime level is intended to give Wild Ones member the means to make a long-term commitment to the Wild Ones mission and its goals. For your support, you will receive our Certificate of Appreciation (complete with special framing), recognizing your contribution to Wild Ones, acknowledgement in the Wild Ones Journal. And, as an added benefit, the Lifetime Household member will no longer make annual membership renewal payments.
Can’t think of anyone who would enjoy a Wild Ones membership? How about those new neighbors down the street who aren’t sure what to do with their yard? Or maybe those relatives who keep borrowing your lawnmower. And what about the local “weed inspector” who keeps eyeing your prairie? Better yet, just think what a Wild Ones membership will do for the kids at your neighborhood school! Your gift of a Wild Ones membership might be the start of a journey that leads someone to saving the Earth, or at least a small part of it. Three levels of membership are available, and each new gift membership gets the great benefits available to all Wild Ones members including a subscription to the Wild Ones Journal. We’ll even send them an acknowledgement so they’ll know it’s from you. Helping to save the Earth, and your favorite Wild organization, has never been so easy.
Opportunities exist in your area.
- Look for a chapter near you. Chapters participate in a variety of environmentally-focused fairs, festivals and conferences to promote the Wild Ones philosophy. Also community projects that help to preserve, restore or establish native plantings. You will have the opportunity to learn about native plants and natural landscaping through networking and hands-on work. And remember, a portion of your Wild Ones dues goes to help your chapter spread awareness within your local community, about the benefits of using native wildflowers in landscaping.
- Wild Ones, the national organization, offers opportunities to volunteer at the WILD Center. Whether it is a working vacation or just to drop by to help with preserving, establishing or restoring the 16 acre site, you’ll learn about native plants and natural landscaping.
